Born and raised in Michigan, Donna is a second-generation artist as her mother and father were both musicians. She was employed in higher education for 30 years and then took up watercolor and acrylic painting. She is a self-taught artist who has attended numerous painting workshops in recent years. Her formal education was in biology but since retiring, artistic expression through painting is her passion. She is currently experimenting with impressionism and abstract expressionism.
"I enjoy painting in watercolors, acrylics and pastels. In the beginning of my artistic awakening, I was much more of a purist and concentrated on only one medium at a time. Now however, not only have I fallen in love with all the different types of 'paints' available, but the many varieties of papers make my artistic experience one of joy and never-ending fascination. Now, I experiment with the interaction of many of my paints and different papers at the same time and serendipitous surprises amuse and encourage me to embrace the creative unknown. [more...]
